WHAT IS IT?
Earlier this year, the Illinois Technology Association merged with 1871. With that merger, 1871 excitedly inherited the annual Tech Challenge! This is an incredible opportunity for students & recent grads* to sharpen their coding skills and gain a pathway forward into a career in technology.
The 1871 Tech Challenge, presented by State Farm, will continue to connect, inspire, and strengthen the extraordinary talents of students.
*must have graduated between 9/2019 – 9/2020 and be currently unemployed.
CODE
If you are a student passionate about coding, join the competition!
We want to support your hard work and dedication to developing a skill that you passionately enjoy and excel in. That’s why we’re challenging higher-ed students & recent grads in the U.S. to grab their laptops this September 23rd – October 2nd for a chance to win part of a $10K cash prize, awesome swag, and the opportunity to participate in the main event.
Our coding challenge is sponsored by Karat.
Karat conducts live tech screens and delivers predictive, fair, and enjoyable technical interviews on behalf of companies. More than a technical interviewing service, Karat partners with your team to transform the software engineer hiring process into a competitive advantage.
CONNECT
More than just a competition, it’s about connections.
This program is a platform for students & recent grads to come together to connect, inspire one another, and strengthen their skills. Meet fellow coders and get a behind the scenes look at some of today’s best technology companies.
Benefits:

- Connections to peers, just as talented as you
- Your resume placed in front of our network of hiring partners
- Chance to win part of the $10,000 prize
