Student Coders Unite! 1871’s 14th Annual Competition Hosts its Final Round at Chicago HQ for a Friendly Coding Competition & Networking Event.

1871 hosted its 14th Annual Tech Challenge coding competition at their Chicago office on 10.20.23.

125 university students and recent graduates from across the nation competed in our Qualifying Round in CoderPad, which assessed their coding skills, accuracy, and problem-solving speed.

These students’ coding skills were impressive, and the top 50 codes advanced to our final coding round at 1871. Several students from the Midwest joined us in person, while coders from across the nation participated virtually, all competing for the opportunity to win cash rewards and a range of other prizes, including subscriptions to Sound Advice.

The Tech Challenge experience

At 1871, we’re all about connecting key players in tech for innovation – and our reach spans to young talent in universities!

The competition provides students & grads the opportunity to showcase their coding skills and connect them with 1871’s pool of member tech companies looking for talent. In-person participants also had opportunities to network with other talented coders, tour 1871’s HQ, and gain valuable insights into the tech industry with collaborative activities from Shedd Capital

Importance of the Tech Challenge

The competitions aim to be both fun and intellectually stimulating, encouraging coders to think outside the box, come up with innovative solutions, and showcase their talents to potential connections and mentors in the tech field.

“At 1871, these tech challenges are not just about competition; they’re integral to our mission,” said Jessica Prath, Director of Talent Programs at 1871. “They drive innovation and open doors to new opportunities. Connecting emerging talent to our community creates a path for the future of technology.”
