To attend a code bootcamp, an aspiring programmer usually has to make a full-time commitment. But here at 1871, Jay Wengrow wants to prove that it doesn’t have to be that way.
Jay is the founder of Anyone Can Learn to Code. The bootcamp meets on evenings and weekends, allowing students to keep their full-time jobs and be at home with their families on Fridays and Saturdays.
Through about 20 hours per week of focused instruction and practice, ACLTC’s first cohort has built apps with Ruby on Rails, Javascript, and AngularJS. Notable examples include a bit.ly-like service, an API for Project Euler, and an app that uses the API to calculate puzzle difficulty and score users on their puzzle-solving skills. That’s in addition to the individual capstone projects that each student will complete by the end of the course.
On August 28, the ACLTC students would like to show the Chicago tech community what they’ve done at their Student Showcase in the 1871 auditorium.
Whether you’re looking for programming talent, you’re thinking about attending a programming bootcamp, or you just want to see what kind of projects are possible on a part-time schedule, we encourage you to come have a look.
If you are interested in attending the bootcamp, Fall Cohort will begin September 7th and applications will be closing September 5th. Head over to anyonecanlearntocode.com to learn more and apply!
