After School Matters art for sale at 1871

Works of art created by After School Matters students, on display in the 1871 Auditorium through Fall, are currently for sale. All sales are to benefit the After School Matters program. The works of art are a mix of canvases, skateboards, and mixed media pieces, similar to those regularly on display at the After School Matters Retail Store. 1871 hopes to utilize its influential position in the Chicago technology space to help support After School Matters’ mission to provide Chicago public high school teens with opportunities to explore and develop their talents. This is part of 1871’s ongoing effort to empower Chicago youth through exposure to the vibrant world of digital entrepreneurship.

1871 and After School Matters have also partnered to bring 3 After School Matters participants to 1871 as interns in a six-week program. This partnership provides Chicago teens with an internship program to experience technology and digital entrepreneurship. As active members of the 1871 team, the interns work on a variety of tasks ranging from event planning to community outreach.
