Our “Mentoring @1871” interview series will feature 1871 community members who have made a valuable contribution to our network. The new interview initiative is a collection of stories, stories that highlight what Chicago leaders have gained by participating in the 1871 mentorship program.
Here’s what Amanda Brady, Of Counsel at Ziliak Law LLC has to say about mentoring @1871:
How long have you been mentoring at 1871?
Just over a year – I believe my first session was October 17, 2014.
What do you get out of being a mentor?
I love being around people who are passionate about what they are doing, hearing their stories, and watching their businesses and ideas grow and evolve.
Why should someone come to your office hours at 1871?
I realize that startups have limited finances and that it doesn’t benefit them or me for them to put all of those limited finances toward legal fees. I can sit down with a member, talk through whatever is on their mind, and come up with a cost-efficient and practical solution to his or her problem and/or strategy to achieve his or her goal. I can help identify what legal steps are of immediate necessity and what can wait.
