The definition of failure is an inability to achieve a defined goal. In some cases the goal itself may have been the problem, in others the attempted solution, still others were simply bad timing. One thing that has been clearly demonstrated is that failure is a valuable teacher. XR technology has no shortage of commercial “failures.” From Nintendo’s Virtual Boy of the 1990’s to Google Glass of 2012, there are plenty of examples of what some may consider VR & AR failures. Some would consider these technologies and attempts to be the key learning experiences that inform our current capabilities and market approaches to virtual and augmented reality. Is “The Metaverse” a term that will shape our collective future, or a passing fad to be ridiculed in years to come?

Join us March 1st for The Next Evolution: Key Learnings from XR Failures as we explore the AR & VR technology iterations that have shaped our current understanding. Experienced professionals with long histories in immersive technology will tell the stories and explore the risks that had to be taken to bring us to where we are today. How does our current environment and technology adoption inform how these capabilities and adoptions will expand tomorrow? Come and get your questions answered by the people that are directly shaping the future. Onward and upward.

Virbela | Virtual Environment | virbela.com/download

For our Virtual Venue, we will be using Virbela‘s Open Campus to host the program. We suggest that you download, set-up, get familiar with the Virbela program and environment prior to the program, as we will be unable to provide support during the event.

The virtual environment resembles a physical space, so you will be able to talk with other attendees during open networking both before and after the presentations. The sound is spatialized, so if at any point it feels too loud, feel free to move your conversation to another part of the room where there are less people.
