1871 is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all participants at our in-person events. As part of this commitment, we maintain a strict zero tolerance policy (outlined below) towards any form of harassment, discrimination, inappropriate behavior, and the use and/or distribution of illegal and dangerous substances. 

We expect all guests of 1871, including but not limited to participants, speakers, sponsors, members, staff, and volunteers, to adhere to these policies at all times. 

Our Guest Safety Agreement that includes the following clauses: 

Harassment

Harassment includes but is not limited to, unwelcome comments, slurs, gestures, inappropriate jokes, or physical contact that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment based on race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, religion, or any other protected characteristic. This will not be tolerated on the grounds of 1871 events or any 1871-related programming. 

Attendees who engage in harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior will be subject to immediate expulsion from the event with no re-entry or participation. Event organizers reserve the right to take further action, including banning individuals from future events organized by 1871. Serious violations may be reported to law enforcement authorities, as deemed appropriate. 

Drugs & dangerous substances  

As part of our commitment to safety and compliance with the law, we established a zero tolerance policy for the use of drugs at 1871. 1871 is committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all events, including but not limited to attendees, speakers, sponsors, members, staff, and volunteers to adhere to this policy at all times. 

The possession, use, sale, distribution, or being under the influence of illegal drugs, or dangerous and prohibited substances, (including date-rape drugs) on the premise during event hours or at any off-site location where 1871 is represented is strictly prohibited. 

Excessive or inappropriate consumption of alcohol during event hours on 1871 premises is also prohibited. 1871 complies with the applicable laws regarding the sale and consumption of alcohol. 

The possession, use, distribution, sale, or any attempt to administer date-rape drugs, such as GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid), Rohypnol,  Ketamine, or any similar substances on 1871 premises or at any event hosted or sponsored by our organization is strictly prohibited. 

Awareness & Education

1871 is committed to raising awareness about the risks associated with date-rape drugs. We will provide information to our staff, patrons, and guests on recognizing the signs of potential drug tampering and the importance of incident reporting. 

Incident Reporting

Anyone who suspects the presence or use of date-rape drugs on our premises is encouraged to report the incident immediately to our staff. All reports will be treated with discretion and sensitivity. 

Consequences of Violation

 Individuals found in violation of this Zero Tolerance Policy for excessive consumption of alcohol or the use of date-rape drugs will be subject to immediate removal from the premises. Violators may also be banned from future entry or participation in events hosted or sponsored by 1871. In cases involving illegal activities, such as drug distribution, appropriate legal authorities will be notified.

Consent to Use of Likeness

By attending any event organized by 1871, you hereby grant 1871 and its affiliates, successors, and assigns the irrevocable right to use, reproduce, display, distribute, and publish any photographs, video recordings, or other likenesses of you taken at the event (collectively, the “Footage”) for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to advertising, marketing, promotional materials, and publications, in any medium or format, whether now known or hereafter created, without further notice or compensation.

You acknowledge and agree that 1871 shall be the exclusive owner of all rights, including but not limited to the copyrights, in and to the Footage. You further waive any right to inspect or approve the use of the Footage or any material that may be used in conjunction with it.

By attending the event, you consent to the collection and use of your likeness as described above and release 1871 from any claims or liability arising from or related to the use of the Footage.

If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please notify the event organizers in advance.

Confidentiality

1871 is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of individuals who report suspected incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption and date-rape drugs to the extent permitted by law. 

1871 is dedicated to creating an environment where everyone feels safe and respected. We believe that enforcing this Guest Safety Agreement is essential to achieving this goal.
