1871 Announces 2024 AI Innovation Lab Cohort
CHICAGO, April 8, 2024 – 1871, a nonprofit global innovation hub, announces the list of 2024 cohort members for its second annual AI Innovation Lab, in partnership with Why of AI and Fintech4Good. The 2024 Lab is supported by Microsoft, Discover, EX3 Labs, Molson Coors, Suntory Holdings Limited, Fenwick, and World Business Chicago.
Running in parallel with 1871’s first-ever InsurTech Innovation Lab, the AI Innovation Lab offers a cutting-edge platform for growth-stage entrepreneurs and innovators with AI-driven solutions. This dedicated space fosters innovation, collaboration, and growth, providing cohort members access to resources and industry-specific expertise from VCs, corporate partners, and industry enthusiasts to drive industry transformation.
Why of AI’s Founder and CEO, Alex Castrounis, returns for their second year of partnership and plays a vital role as the Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) for the 2024 Lab. This year’s focus areas are: Efficient & Scalable Data Infrastructure, Efficient & Scalable AI Infrastructure, MLOps & ML Workflow, AI Governance & Compliance, Grounded & Trustworthy AI, and Multimodal & Generative AI.

Alongside a Northwestern University Kellogg full-time MBA program, we developed InstaEnglish 100% in-house in just three months. Since its launch in February, it has quickly garnered over 1,000 downloads and more than 30 paying users within its first month, securing the top spot at the annual Kellogg Venture Competition.

About the program
Cohort members will participate in 4 weeks of hybrid programming, alternating each week for virtual and in-person experiences in April, May, and June 2024. The program culminates with a capstone-like event, the 2024 AI Innovation Summit, open to public participation on 6.27.24.
